Rare Anglo-Japanese Side Table with the Original Royal Worcester Porcelain Plate

SOLD

An extremely rare Anglo-Japanese side table attributed to E W Godwin with the original period Royal Worcester porcelain plate upon an inward turned basket storage area with a stylised cart wheel stretcher on three turned legs with angular supports. The cart wheel stretcher has been used in a number of ways by Godwin on his lounge armchair with part cart wheel details to the arms and also to the arms of settees he has designed including the piano stool that belonged to Ellen Terry on page 70 of The Secular Furniture of E W Godwin by Soros, where she is sitting in a period image. A similar table (PR31) was sold by Sotheby's for just under £20,000 in march 2008.
