An Aesthetic Movement Burr Pine Bedroom suite with stylised floral stencil details made by Dyer and Watts of Islington who exhibited a similar wardrobe at The Paris Exhibition of 1867 which was purchased by The Empress of France. A passage from the Art Journey supplement 1867 about that wardrobe they exhibited states :- the stencilled decoration 'as refreshing to the eye as if the woods had been of the rarest and most costly'. Dyer and Watts who later became Dyer Harper and Dyer and made top quality furniture with stencilled decoration, although a lesser known maker with a smaller output than many other makers of that period therefore to find the whole suite is a very rare occasion and in those days brass beds were in high fashion so it's unlikely a bed was ever made for this suite. Consisting of a treble wardrobe, dressing table, washstand, bedside cupboard and a towel rail. The washstand with tiled back, the tiles depicting birds and stylised flowers probably by Worcester with matching bedside cupboard, towel rail and a pair of bedroom chairs (not shown).

Washstand, Height 43", Width 48", Depth 22".
Bedside cupboard Height 30 1/2", Width 15", Depth 14".
Towel Rail Height 35", Length 29", Depth 8". Circa late 1860's/early 1870's.
