Richard Charles (1823-93), A rare Aesthetic Movement ebonized and parcel Gilt lounge chair, with a spindle gallery above and below the padded back rest, with arched shaped legs to each side from front to back also forming the seat and a smaller decorative arched support from the rear legs supporting the back making it a very strong chair with carved decoration and incised gilded line details and original brass and ceramic casters.

This chair represents an extremely advanced design from the very beginnings of the Aesthetic Movement.
