IDA 17
A monumental mid Victorian hand formed wrought and cast iron Pergola/Decorative Garden Structure, a masterpiece in High Victorian design. The Pergola was built in the same Era as Paxton's Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition of 1851, Kew Gardens by Decimus Burton from the mid to later part of the 19th Century and Barnard, Bishop and Barnards Japanese Pavilion designed by Thomas Jeckyll for the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876 smaller scale but on a similar theme.

Henry Stacy-Marks, a highly important English painter of portraits and birds. An oil on gilded panel in the medieval style of a gentleman passing his loved one a flower, 29cm x 23cm, in a carved walnut and parcel gilt frame, 51.5cm x 47cm overall. One of a pair.
Marks had a reputation for his high spirits and conviviality. He enjoyed success as a painter of Shakespearean and historical subjects and later, ornithological pictures.

Henry Stacy-Marks, a highly important painter. An oil on gilded panel in the medieval style of a lady receiving a flower from her loved one, 29cm x 23cm, in a carved walnut and parcel gilt frame, 51.5cm x 47cm overall.

IDA 38
William Francis Dixon (1848-1928) for Clayton and Bell (1855-1993), an important Aesthetic Movement leaded and painted glass window panel, emblematic of 'Sculpture', 98cm high, 55cm wide Dixon's work is amongst the very best of British stained glass work of the late 19th century and he worked with various partners, including Edward Frampton, before going to Germany in 1894 to work for Mayer and Co. of Munich. His designs were often heavily influenced by Burne-Jones. This was researched by Bill Waters who was formerly assistant curator of Tullie House Museum, Carlisle and author (with Martin Harrison) of a comprehensive monograph on the work of Edward Coley Burne-Jones called simply 'Burne-Jones' (London:Barrie and Jenkins 1973), other works on Burne-Jones and 'Stained glass from Shrigley and Hunt of Lancaster and London' (University of Lancaster 2003).

IDA 39
Ernest Gimson. A rare pair of polished steel and brass Arts and Crafts fire dogs designed by Ernest Gimson and made by Alfred Bucknell. The upper florets are cast in brass and silver plated. An original drawing by Gimson of a pair of pierced brass andiorns based on 17th Century examples at Haddon Hall in Derbyshire Haddon have the identical upper florets.
They show Gimson's passion for using natural forms within his work, with leaves and flowering details.
Height 25 1/2" Width of head 9" Width at feet 10 3/4", Length 23".

A beautiful Arts and Crafts copper and brass twin arm table light by W.A.S.Benson with original heavy Vaseline Powell shades. Retaining it's original laquered finish.
Height 19", width of arms 13", the base is 5" square. Circa 1900.

A pair of Arts and Crafts copper and brass wall lights by W.A.S.Benson. A similar style was used in Phillip Webb's Purbeck Marble entrance for Luke Ionidis at 1 Holland Park Rd, one of the important patrons to the circle of W Morris friends and artists. A single version is illustrated in Jeremy Coopers Victorian and Edwardian Furniture and Interiors, Page 172 Illustration 446.
They extend 20" from the wall. The curled leaves are 10" apart. Circa 1890.

WAS Benson. An outstanding Arts and Crafts brass and copper lily pad reflector chandelier with three electric cables that support the lower copper ring holding the original cut glass shade with three bulb holders inside the shade.
It has a registered design number stamped into it Rd 235457 which dates it at C1894.

WAS Benson. An outstanding and extremely rare Arts and Crafts copper and brass chandelier with 6 James Powell of Whitefriars Vaseline shades. Absolutely stunning these images do not do it justice, an exceptional piece.
Height of chandelier from ceiling without chain 4', original chain is 36" long so one can hang it from 4' to anything between a 7'drop depending on chain, Width shade to shade 25". Circa 1900.

A rare and important Birmingham Guild of Handicraft brass table lamp designed by Arthur Dixon. The last image is from the VandA booklet, that particular table lamp was donated to The Victoria and Albert Museum by the daughter of C.R.Ashbee founder of The Guild Of Handicraft.

A beautiful Arts and Crafts Peacock enamel mounted in hand beaten silver frame attributed to C R Ashbee and The Guild Of Handicraft, in it's original case, the colours are the most vibrant I have ever come across and the enamel is in mint condition, although there are no silver marks to this piece it has tested silver. I do need to do a little more research on this piece.
