Mouseman and His Apprentices

MOUSE 10
A set of three superb quality Arts and Crafts oak benches by Mouseman, I seem to remember that only two of the three benches have the mouse carved onto one and into the other, therefore I will sell a pair and a single or all three together. The pair :- one with the mouse and one without the mouse and a single bench with the mouse. They all need a good clean and a wax which I will include in the price. They are in another store at the moment in Holton about Eight miles from the Southwold showrooms.
APPROX Measurements 7' long.

Mouseman 28
An Arts and Crafts oak reading reclining armchair of generous proportions by Robert Thompson Mouseman. The bookstand will insert in the left or righthand side of the arm and connects at the base of the chair. Circa 1920's. Mouseman regularly started signing his furniture with a mouse after 1923 but when I spoke to the Thompson family they said that he did sign his mouse on some reclining armchairs and reading chairs before 1923 and after looking at this one carefully I feel it may well be an earlier chair.

SOLD Squirrelman 1 A Wilf 'Squirrelman' Hutchinson Arts and Crafts Oak dining table with armchairs and two benches retaining the original tan leather to the armchairs and leather clip on seats to the benches. Sqirrelman was an apprentice of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson, making furniture in the same way that he did, using an Adze. An Adze is a tool that dates back thousands of years and is used in a way which scollops the wood surface leaving an uneven surface that has it's own superb character.
Wilf Hutchinson established his own furniture workshop in 1957 in the village of Husthwaite, in between Thirsk and Easingwold.
